Ok i will tell my friend that his point is wrong. The tangible universe is always filtered through our perception. His view of reality out there is distorted again.

If you think it is better to use Plan-Do-Check-Act-Anticipate, then go ahead. Small adjustment or modification is allowed but you have to agreed that the basic concept is from Plan-Do-Check-Act.

This kind of case common happen like 5S, some company make them to 6S or 7S. No one can say that 5S is wrong and many company still stick to 5S. However, there are still some company are using 6S or 7S, it is fine as long as they think this is better. Again, no matter 6S or 7S, the basic concept is still come from 5S

No one can say that 5S is wrong...
Well, no one can say motherhood is wrong, either, but that doesn't mean much. When 5S (or anything else) is reduced to a silly meme and people tape off their desks to show where the stapler goes while things are generally going to hell, something is wrong. When leadership understands the intrinsic value of continualous improvement, keeping things organized and reducing waste, there's no need for people to sit in the corner and dress the concepts in ill-fitting new clothes. The fact that someone out there thinks that adding a redundant letter to PDCA will help something means that (A) someone doesn't understand the basic concepts and/or (B) his leadership rewards empty gestures.

I think it should be called

Plan
Do
Check
Replan

I dislike the 'Act' part as it tends to confuse many employees...People always say "...but didn't we 'Act' in the 'Do' part of the cycle?". Yes, I know it means ACT upon the findings of your CHECK but I still don't have to like the original acronym :)

Not sure 7S has the same basic concept as 5S:

5S
Seiri - Sorting
Seiton - Straighten
Seisō - Systematic Cleaning
Seiketsu - Standardized work practices
Shitsuke - Sustaining the discipline

7S
Strategy
Structure
Systems
Shared Values
Style
Staff
Skills

Regards,

Tony :)

Where did that 7S (as you described it) come from? :frust::frust:
I believe that anyone can come up with words that start with an "S."
