The use of dipseal on gauges is very effective. We use this on primarily thread gauges, but have found use for other gauges. (i.e. OD micrometers, calipers) We currently have around 6,000 gauges we are calibrating at least once a year. The dip-seal has saved us time and money. After a calibration, most gauges are dipped (calibration-preserved). When the gauges time interval is due, if the integrity of the dip seal is intact, a note is made in the calibration that the results are "same as last calibration". Using the DS-300B type wax from dipseal dot com. We purchased a tank as well from them. We have been using this method for 1+ year and have not experienced any odor, or fires. The tank is used just outside the calibration lab in a well ventilated area as the supplier recommends.
