Thanks, Brian. I've just had too many training courses where peoples eyes glaze over when I talk about ISO - and that is from people who have paid to be there and really want to know!

... or perhaps it's just my delivery! :lmao:

I second and third and fourth (ok, I like to over-emphasize ;)) Boris' statement that they DO already have a QMS in place.

If they didn't, they'd probably be out of business already!

And I tend to stay away from ISO-speak as well - most people's eyes glaze over and really, they don't need to know (the vast majority that is). Finally, your diagram makes it look all about The Quality Manual. It isn't. It's a quality management system, remember? OK, documentation is part of that system, but it's far from the be-all and end-all. It's also about having processes, and management, and competent people doing the work, and having feed-back loops, etc etc. It's not just all about the doco.

When are you planning to bring TM and other excellent communicators (including the skeptics) up to speed so they can show their commitment to their management system?

You may even run a workshop for the awareness leaders so they can develop and agree their message for explaining:

  • How the organizational management system works
  • Its obligations
  • The benefits of fulfilling those obligations
You are not the boss of the people you are training. They need to hear and see this message from their leaders.

TM could use their management system awareness seminars to promise a state of the system report after each management review to:

  1. State what the system does well
  2. State what the system does less than well
  3. What TM is doing about 2 above
...thereby reinforcing TM's commitment to requirements and to the organizational management system that can help everyone to determine and fulfill requirements.

Capture the best awareness seminars for orienting new employees.
