Postpone IATF 16949 audit due to COVID-19

Our lead auditor gave response that the certificates could be extended if there's Re-Certification audit , the remotely audit for IATF 16949 is not applicable , surveillance audits maybe postponed in this time , I think that letter of extend the certificate should be issued to cover the expired certificate date

Has anyone tried to reschedule their audit yet? I spoke with our CB last week to postpone our surveillance audit that was scheduled to begin on 3/25, and they were unable to give me a new audit date. They said the next 3 months was already booked, and so many people have canceled audits that they will likely have to hire more auditors to cover them in that time frame.

Sorry that my response to your post was quite delayed. When we cancelled mid-March, I was able to get a date in late June. The IATF has since revised their COVID-19 response with remote monitoring as an option.

Monitoring is now an option if a surveillance audit cannot be scheduled within 180 days after the regular surveillance window. There are specific criteria that must be met to be considered for remote monitoring.

I wanted to look into remote monitoring but our certification body said it isn't possible because we had a major during last audit. Is this true? I didn't see that anywhere in the new release.

I received a letter from DNVGL yesterday that officially extends the validity of our ISO9001 and ISO14001 certificates for 6 months. We have completed our remote audit and are working through the audit response. BTW, the remote audit was just a grueling as a an onsite audit, but in a completely different way. We did have some fun carrying our auditor around the production floor, Max Headroom style, on a 10" tablet running Microsoft Teams. We probably spent 5 hours of the audit outside of the conference room this way.

I have query, base on rev 4, if regular Audit (Surveillance onsite Audit) is impossible to conduct IATF monitoring should be conducted .
I would like to know who will finally decide that we're qualified for IATF monitoring, is it the CB or the client (our side)?
Can we request for CB for IATf monitoring due to current risk of pandemic?

Hi,
Your CB has appointed Veto-persons who will make the decision if you are eligble for IATF monitoring.

yes you can make a request but please not that the earliest date to apply IATF monitoring is When its 30 days left of the suspension period.
