Powder coating issues

Hello Seniors,

Currently, I am facing an issue with the strength of screen printing on powder coating parts (the raw material is steel). I discussed with the screen printing supplier and they told me that since the last 3-4 lots we were noticing that your powder coating looks oily and that caused the strength of screens. I investigated in powder coating area and noticed that we didn't change powder coating (dry substances) for many years. Our screen printing supplier is using Vinyl ink on powder coating parts.

After a conversation with the supplier, I have also noticed that powder coating parts feel oily (smooth). Do you think smoothness creates a problem with the strength of screens?

need your advice on it.

I would investigate whether the powder coating supplier changed the formulation. I would also investigate your powder coating process to see whether there have been changes, or whether the process is operating correctly.

I discussed with a supplier today about ink formulation and they told me that they bought ink from a reputed supplier and there was no change in ink for 3 years. I think i need to investigate curing time of the oven that might probability of this cause

A thing could be both oily and "smooth." Is there actually oily residue on the parts?

The question was about the powder formulation, not the ink.

A thing could be both oily and "smooth." Is there actually oily residue on the parts?
hello Jim,

Nope. there is no oily resides on the parts. We are doing sand blasting before performing powder coating. I believe oven curing time is the prime cause for this

Currently, in my company, we are powder coating our product. QA detects so many powder particle defects during run production. What is the root cause for the powder particle defects became occurred?

Is that flowability of the powder in low-speed spraying or does Oily stinks on the part after coating will the powder particle become occurred?

Can anyone advise on this
