PPAP a Rebranded Purchased Product (we don't manufacture)

Hi, Our customer has asked our organization to provide a PPAP for an automotive fluid product we sell them that is a rebrand of a fluid we purchase from our supplier. We have an agreement with our supplier to sell this automotive fluid under our company name. This is quite common within the chemicals industry. Now that our Customer has demanded a PPAP we are faced with a dilemna. The part submission warrant (PSW) asks for "ORGANIZATION MANUFACTURING INFORMATION". We do not manufacture this product and cannot disclose the manufacturer (our supplier). We have no problem establishing a PPAP with our manufacturing supplier for this automotive fluid to ensure their production process capable and locked in from further changes. The issue is what to list on the PSW under "ORGANIZATION MANUFACTURING INFORMATION"that we will submit to our customer. Are we permitted to list our company name on the PSW since we are the direct supplier to our customer who is requesting the PPAP? I realize there is always a risk that the Customer will want to perform an on site audit. I am trying to do what is ethical, while at the same time protecting our company's intellectual property.

Do you (they) make the fluid to the customer's specs or to a universal spec.? Is there something in your contracts that addresses third party manufacturers? If you discloses the manufacturer, is there a risk they could buy directly from them?

Consider making 'bulk material checklist' in place of PSW.
You can not write your name on PPAP documents if you are not involved in manufacturing of fluid, even if you are changing packing of fluid. [Remember, packing is not considered as manufacturing]. On, PPAP documents, supplier name should appear.

If you have been able to hide supplier name so far, you can write an imaginary name on PPAP documents. Get ready to face a situation when your customer will plan a visit to your supplier.

I just asked a coworker that worked 15 years each at GM and Ford. He said to enter your own companies information. Apparently your situation is extremely common and the automotive companies know this occurs.

Miner, but what will happen when customer will visit to verify PPAP documents and associated processes.

You should still have the complete set of PPAP documents on file regardless of the name put on the PSW, so that is not an issue. Regarding the process, your paperwork should be consistent with what the organization actually does, such as receiving inspection.

That is an interesting approach. Thanks for the reply.
