I understand that IMDS is not a regulation. As it was explained to me, it is a database of all materials that go into a vehicle down to the the raw elements. This information is used by licensed (and non-licensed), "dismantlers" who recycle vehicles in Europe. The intent, is to ensure that "all" of a vehicles materials can be recycled (Someday), and a full inventory of what is in a vehicle is available.
This is all driven by the Big Three who want to sell cars into the EU?
