PPAP for distributors?

I know that we can choose to waive PPAP requirements to distributors if we chose to, but if our customers also required that we PPAP our suppliers, how do we go about this? Do we ask for a formal waiver from our customer stating that they are waiving this requirement of PPAPing tier 2 suppliers because they are distributors?

When in doubt, ask the customer. Get the waiver, if it's allowed, in writing.
