Preventing Quality System Non-conformities

prevent quality system non-conformities?

What are the different preventive actions we can possibly take to prevent quality system non-conformities ?
I think training should be one. What are the other possible preventive actions? I have a few more queries regarding preventive actions for quality system related potential non-conformities.
a) at what frequency should we analyse the quality system for preventive actions
b) what are the inputs for this
c) any methods available for analysis like FMEA.

How about contract review, calibration, PM, supplier evaluations and training. Any time you review data you have the possibility for PA

Can you please tell me what type of data should we review . If we are looking at / reviewing non-conformities/problems in contract review , calibration,PM etc, will it not be corrective action?

All that I mentioned are PA by nature. Anytime one looks at data and see trends that point to trouble can be PA. eg. an objective 1000ppm you have data that shows - 276,301 349,444 ppm history, so you may want to initiate PA to make sure you do not go over 1000ppm

a) at what frequency should we analyse the quality system for preventive actions

The review cycle should be dictated by the age and health of your system, but I can not see it going beyond an annual review.

b) what are the inputs for this

Inputs would be customer compliants, rejections, internal rejections, etc.

c) any methods available for analysis like FMEA.

Pareto charts work and you can use process FMEAs as well.

Andrews,

IMHO, analysis of company level data trend will give you sufficient information on issues requiring preventive action. Mind you, the trend can point to system breakdown before it happens.
