Preventive Action - How to call the prevention when there is not a clause

Q

QAMTY

Hi everybody.

How would you call a preventive action, if it does not existe as a name?
In the 2015 standard, prevention is considered into the risk.
But if I find in a process and have the need to apply prevention, would it be
recommended to continue naming this "Preventive action"?

e.g. I have a format to register into the management system the preventive actions and is named, FOR-MGS-001 Preventive actions.

I dont know if would it be better to name it "Risk consideration"

Please give inputs on this matter.

Thanks

You can call them preventive actions even if the term is not in the standard. Such actions are a particular case of improvement actions. They do not go away because of risk-based-thinking. You can name them as it best suits your company.

I think you need to just include that in the Risk Assessment/Risk Mitigation. No real need to have a separate procedure, unless that is how the organization wants it.

Just my opinion

Re: How to call the prevention when there is not a clause

Thanks Pancho and Coury

Into the processes, I already detected the risks and as such they are
registered into the List of risks also into it, the follow-up.

In my case, would be for example, kpi in any process, Im starting to detect low performance, so I decide to apply a preventive action, and for that I want
to use my existing format.

Does it sound for you a good practice as we did it in the 2008 version?

Thanks

With the changes from 2008 to 2015 they did eliminate or merge certain requirements. For example: Corrective Action is now incorporated into Nonconforming Material...

If it was a good practice before, it will still be a good practice. You don't need to change something that's working well.
