Preventive maintenance outsourcing

If company 'A' subcontracts the preventive maintenance activities to its parent company 'B' ,then what type of controls should be exercised on them.

Is it required to
a) show evidence of company 'B's competence in conducting preventive maintenance, and
b) what other records should company 'A' maintain .Should it prepare the preventive maintenance plan or can it be done by company 'B'?

Comments please !!

Don't sweat it!

YOU decide what you want to include in your Preventive Maintenance Program and how YOU accomplish the Maintenance. (Infrastructure in 9001:2000). Nobody can second guess your efforts.

Forklifts-Frankie's Forklift Maintenance

Overhead Cranes-Ferdie's Crane Service

All that can be audited is what you say is the equipment, required maintenance and when it was performed. Next?

Purchased PM

Andrews,

Besides Energy's recommendations, I would think that Company B would be a supplier and would need to meet the 7.4.1 requirements too.

For sure, Doug. And one could imagine that their parent company is a Supplier in excellent standing and at the very top of their Approved Supplier's List. :vfunny: :ko: :smokin:

Do you have a picture?

Energy,

After reading the Scot (Quality) article in the 'hinderance' thread, I was second guessing the type of response I would get. I am surprised that you didn't have a picture for me, but then it would probably not be flattering. So I will watch what I say after you!:truce:

Doug,

Don't ever watch what you say. The worst that can happen is being accused of incompetence. :vfunny: Not from me. I already own that monicker:bonk: :ko: :smokin:
