i agree. using acrobat is easiest way, but the file size becomes large when balooning. We faced a problem like this. We scanned the customer drawings (A0/A1 size), converted to pdf, then did baloon numbering. This has to be submitted to our customer in mail. It was very tedious. My customer mail could accept only file size of 3MB but the balooned drg was 17Mb.

I recently had this problem and resolved it by using Foxit (search for Foxitreader), This allows you to add bubbles to PDF drawings or any PDF, allong with text etc. The software is free and you can copy bubbles (callouts) from one document to another. I have used it succesfully and has been accepted by my customer. Once registered the online Foxit support is excellent

I downloaded Foxit and I think it is great. I see a lot of usefulness for this in our future. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry to disturb, but I was just wondering, what does Bubble mean in this context???
I dont understand a clue about the problem, but I would like to :)

If it is just about edit a pdf file, there is a lot of solutions for that: Acrobat pro, bluebeam... If it is simple drawings you can can just take a print screen...

a free solution may be libreoffice or openoffice with the pdf-import extension.

you open the pdf file with libreoffice wich import the file inside a "drawing"
after You can "buble" /"ballone"/"zeppelin" the dimension. To make easier/faster and less ambiguous respect to the designer annotations I use my personal fonts.

Does Foxit allow you to add the "balloon" with an auto-incrementing number? We use Acrobat and I can draw a circle and then place a number in it. Most of our drawings have hundreds of features and the manual process is tedious and time consuming. We used to have a plug in to the stamp feature that auto-incremented the feature number. I can't find how to get that working again. Thanks.

In this context, bubble print means putting a number (letter, unique identifier) next to each print requirement to associate a specific dimension to a listed dimension on a First Article or other document that uses that print.

For example, a print has 42 dimensions that need to be inspected and the inspection results need to be recorded. 4 of the dimensions are 45° ±1°. In a list of dimensions, which specific 45° belongs to which print requirement? We put numbers next to each dimension (usually circling the number) and call it a bubble print. On the First Article (or other document) we have a list of numbers (or what ever unique identifier used) and the two 'link' the list and print together.

Thought I'd add something here. I had also been looking for a software solution to balloon prints electronic to reduce the amount of printing and scanning needed when ballooning on hard copies.

I had previously used Adobe Acrobat Pro but that software is just too expensive for one seat and has a lot of functions that is not needed for the simple purpose of basic commenting/annotating/signing etc.

After much comparison between what's available now, I settled for Nitro PDF Pro. It's a relatively new Adobe alternative and the software still has a lot of kinks to iron out. However, it costs less than Adobe (at the time I bought but I think the price went up) and for what it can do so far it is well worth it.

One of the downside to it is though that I have to combine the functions of the Adobe Reader X in order to make it work for me. That and combined with Combinumerals font type, thanks to someone on this forum, I have been able to balloon my print efficiently and save the trees at the same time! :D
