Dear colleagues!
The chapter 4.1.ñ) demands determine criteria and methods needed to ensure that both the operation and control of these processes are effective.
As you understand:
a)criteria control of these processes ?
b) methods control of these processes ?
How you realize these requirements?
Whether there are examples of performance of these requirements?
I shall be grateful to everyone who will help me by E-mail any methodical materials and documents on all complex of the questions connected with “Process approach”.
Thanks,
Vladimir Mityasin,

Before we start: I think we have a problem with different character sets or something here, so I have to ask: Is 4.1c the reqirement you are asking about?

A much better option would be to post the replies right here, to enable more participation from other Covers.

I also removed your mail address from your post, not because you did something wrong but to protect you from recieving lots of junk mail, which you will as soon as the search engines find you. Hope you don't mind. You will still be able to communicate via mail without posting your address openly. That option can be found by clicking the name of a poster to open a menu with e-mail contact as one option.

I want to understand:
1. The sense of terms «criteria control of processes», «methods control of processes» (Cl. 4.1.ñ)
2. Examples of these criteria and methods

I think Claes is correct in that we have a small issue with character sets. Vladimir, what is showing up on the screens as " ñ " is, we believe, to be " c ".
4.1 c) says "...determine criteria and methods needed to ensure that both the operation and control of these processes are effective."

If you read ISO 9004:2000 that might help you, Vladimir, as it is written in common language. Not as fancy as ISO 9001:2000...no "shall's" and stuff like that. :D

4.1 in ISO 9004:2000 states simply that the organization should define the systems and processes so that they are clearly understood and managed effectively and efficiently. In other words, what does your company do and how does it do it? That is your overall process. Now, what types of items do you measure and look at regularly as a way of determining if the process is under control?...what data helps management to determine whether or not your processes are operating/performing as they should?

If no data is currently looked at...you need to determine WHAT criteria/characteristics would provide a nice summary of how your process is performing. Health and safety? Reworked product? Utilization? Unscheduled delays? That sort of thing.

Added afterwards...like Claes said, Welcome to the Cove! :bigwave:

Yes, certainly, I am interested 4.1 c), which says "...determine criteria and methods needed to ensure that both the operation and control of these processes are effective."
I understand, what means "criteria and methods … operation of processes”.. Example, in my opinion for process PROCUREMENT following indicator (criteria) may be determine:
1) % of successful suppliers, 2) Number of complains to suppliers from my company ect. They are connected with quality objective and goals.
But I do not know how to understand sense “criteria and methods … control of processes”. How I can demonstrate, what control of process is effective?

Possibly Russian translation of the standard is uncorrect?
With regs, Vladimir
