Re: Broad Scope

energy said: We still have to limit the scope of the audit or the auditor will be missing for days!:vfunny: :ko: :smokin:
One of our ideas is to schedule separate interface audits focused on a specific input/output and have both sides of the interface take part in the audit together.

We are hoping this will avoid putting the auditor in the middle of a finger pointing contest.

Anyone ever try an audit like this? If so, how did it work out?

Never tried it, but I have heard of the concept of the auditor of the process coming from the 'customer' of the process. i.e. everyone audits there own suppliers - could be interesting, could be very confrontational however.

As I see it inputs can be classified into two catagories; customer requirements and organization requirements. In one form or another these inputs should be evident as inputs to each process from quote to delivery (and beyond if you offer servicing).
Before I begin the audit I need to know:
- what these requirements are,
- has the process been defined.

The first step I take in the audit process is verify the appropriate inputs are in place and available. I also may need to look at the output of the previous process.

The next step is to verify that the output meets the input requirements. Also I may need to look at the input requirements of the subsequent process.

Included in the process audit would be support activities; maintenance, packaging, housekeeping, etc.

Howard,

I recently discovered xxxxxxx and was impressed with much of the work presented and happy that I could download it for free, especially 'The Complete Guide to Understanding & Implementing ISO9001's Process Management Requirements'. I have not read all of it yet but the parts that I have read look good.

I've read several threads on Process Audit and I've always mistakenly that Process Audit is the same Process Approach of Internal Auditing. I'm quite confused on this. Especially with the Internal Audit, I don't know how I would start auditing an organization. For example, Purchasing, there were several other departments link to Purchasing and these are Process Engineering, QA, Equipment Engineering, IT and Customer Service. How am I gonna audit this organization, If I myself is a QA Guy and Process Engineering is also a part of QA. Do I just have to touch all purchasing process and not linking to other departments (PE &QA), since the process engineering are the one responsible in evaluating the sample parts coming from the vendor.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Raffy
