Re: PCN to notify our customers necessary? for identical product
I have 2 qualified suppliers using the same part number. The component/products they are producing are (electrical-spec) similar. The first supplier will EOL soon. So not to disrupt production, we are opt to use the 2nd supplier (which has'nt been used for a very long time). Question: Is PCN necessary to inform our customer of this change?
Are you sure that the second supplier is still in compliance with your requirement?
Clause 7.4.1 of ISO 9001 says that the you shall establish criteria for selection, evaluation and reevaluation for your supplier and records of results shall be mantained.
How long don't you revaluate them ? Which are your criteria?
Besides, how critical is this supplier for your business?
If you signed off a contract of PPAP with your customer, what were their requirment in case of change of a supplier? Does it want to be informed/notified?
