Process Interaction - ISO 9001:2015

Hello Members

Glad I came across this forum. As a quality consultant, I'm currently engaged in transition activities from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015. There are certain queries which requires clarifications. Appreciate your quick responses.

1. Will the Process interaction diagram differ in the 2015 standard from what we prepared in 9008 standard ?

2. Are there any tools available for calculating the number of days it would require for preparing just the transition documentation ? (One of my client requires just the document transition in accordance with 2015 revision. Any tool for calculation effort require for documentation phase).

Thanks in Advance Everyone.

in your statement you make a reference to ISP 9001 - typo?

Anyway - the processes of the company does not change. What is required is that you need to define the KPI, measure and determine if they meet requirements.

2. there are tools and standards for audit time but for preparation? Not sure what you are looking for... can you give us an example.

@dsanabria, Thanks for bringing the error to my notice. Yeah its ISO and not ISP.

I agree the processes dont change so I'm planning ti retain interaction of processes from existing version to the ISO 9001:2015 version.

My 2nd query was one was my client requires only documents to be modifies in accordance with current ISO 9001 standard. Implementation and other related activities will be taken care by client itself. How can I calculate the number of days required for making document changes according to the latest standard

Thanks in Advance.

First - Do a GAP analysis of what needs to change - this could take 1 or 2 days or more.- depends on the complexity of the company and complexity of documentation.

go to: IAQG: Requirements for a GAP analysis worksheet and additional information.

I agree with dsanabria. There is no way to know what level of effort is needed until you know what they already have and what needs to be changed.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

This is a small company with 20-50 employees, already have 9001:2008 in place.scope includes design and development. How many days document effort would take for changing to new version 2015. I estimated about 3 weeks. Not sure if its less or more.

Any suggestion, inputs are welcome...Thanks in advance.

Like others said, it depends on where you are starting from. We are changing standards and much of what IS0 9001:2015 requires was contained in our old standard. For example, we still had the old QS Business Plan requirement in our system. Well that blended perfectly with the context of the organization stuff. So we had almost no time required to develop new procedures and such. Our time was spent cleaning out old remnants that where no longer applicable. Everybody's journey will be different. Good luck.

I'm not sure either.

When I was doing QMS consulting I would ask to do a one to two day gap analysis first. The output of this would be a report that would identify the scope of everything that needed to be done at a high level. This would be used to determine how much time was necessary to implement the changes. I could then prepare a reasonable quote.

If a client insisted on getting a full quote before a gap analysis (which happened frequently) then I would give a quote including a gap analysis and then a not-to-exceed range of days to do the work. If I guessed well in the quote then I would get the work done somewhere in the range of days quoted. If I underestimated then I still got it done by the max days quoted, but the actual working days tended to be a little longer and I asked their process owners to do more... :notme:
