Gustavo,

Welcome to the Cove.

I think the easiest way for you to understand the answer to your question is to look at some examples. There are many fine examples of Process maps here on the Cove under various threads. Many are just posted in the last 4 months. Use the search function on the Cove to search for "process maps" in the ISO 9001 section in the last 3-4 months and you will find several threads on this subject. Then, if you still hae a specific question, feel free to post again and ask.

But take care, Gustavo!!

Some of the examples I have seen do not at all show the process inputs and the outputs so will do nothing to answer your question.

Best to read the discusions also.

Forgive the intervention, Mike S

A good simple guide is to name your processes as verbs, i.e. doing words. Your outputs are quite simply what the process produces, and your inputs are the 'material' required to produce your outputs, and they must be changed by the process. If they remain the same then they are either 'controls' or 'mechanisms', and not strictly (to IDEF0 definition) inputs.

I may be having a temporary mental information retrieval problem, so -- can someone please define "IDEF0"? Are there any references I should look at to jog my brain cell loose?
