In each case, ask yourself what it is you want from each process (a goal or goals), then measure the degree to which you achieved that goal. You need to decide what is the best measure for your company and situation. For example, for purchasing it could be accuracy of purchase orders, improvement in payment terms or cost from vendors, cycle time for PO's, degree of internal customer service/happiness, etc. For production it could be yield, cycle time, efficiency, etc.

look up, abnoyan. when you are done, the company will have tools of your own design. you will be able to explain how you measure your company.

check out this guy's quality manual posted at https://elsmar.com/elsmarqualityforum/threads/5895/ .

he shows how many of these processes are measured. production control is 7.5.1 of ISO 9001, purchasing 7.4, etc. also, he is willing to post more of his documentation.

purchasing is easy. make a list of approved companies and maintain records of their quality. gather your bills together every month and figure out how much everything costs. and then be active in improving the purchasing process.

design, I don't know. but production should be right up your sleeve. just measure everything and sum it up. organize your measurements, and you will see things you may not have seen before.

I'm sure many suggestions will follow. there are specific things to measure when designing product, purchasing, or producing. I think that most of it comes from experience, and a little perspective will show you exactly how to measure your processes.
