Hello guys,

Just a quick question....We are a weld assembly plant. In our operations, we take a supplier part and weld a nut attachment on the sub assembly. Then the sub part is added into our operations. My question, Would we consider the nut attachment a Process or Product?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

Welding is the process, and the welded assembly is the product.

Re: Process vs Product on Control Plan

Here are my examples: The welded height of the nut is a product characteristic. The weld schedule is the process characteristic. You can have both kinds of characteristics on the same operation, no problem.

In fact, you should have both types for almost all characteristics. If a product control is important enough to be on the control plan, there should be process characteristics associated with it that are controlled.
