Product Audit Checklist according to ISO/TS 16949

Wouldn’t a product audit look at the inspection system itself? While the inspection functions job is to verify a product against a specification or some criteria the product audits job is to verify that the product is being made and inspected correctly.

The inspection function would use a spec to verify that the product is correct.

The product audit would verify that the specification is the correct one.
Is this right?

It could be better to plan product audit within annual internal audit program as an item apart. This because you can soon demonstrate that you are accomplishing the related clause of the standard.

Remember that product audit has under the scope only automotive parts you are producing. In the process audit you should also internally audit processes that do not produce automotive parts as well...:bigwave:

Personnel that perform audit shall be independent and cannot audit their own job. Based upon this, I would suggest not to consider product audit the inspection you mentioned. Product audit shall be conducted along all the process flow, from incoming to shipping through production, taking a sample, and go backwards, checking also to raw material usage ,for example, as well as the control set on control plan.:bigwave:

Hello Suresh. Welcome!

We cannot provide you with a checklist, since we have no idea what your product is. The best person to create a checklist is to do it within your own organization. You know your product, the requirements, the quality issues etc better than anyone.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your reply

Our product is wiring harnesses for buses , trucks,

we are automotive and non automotive supplier.

What exactly my question is "is product audit to conducted in each stages of product? for an example our first stage is wire cutting , crimping, then sub-assembly, continuity test and final inspection.

in the mentioned above each process 'should I take only one part or irrespective of part we have to audit in each stage?
