Hello,
Attached is my map fpr our product realization.
This is the first time I have ever done a flow chart and would like your help.
Well, excellent job for a first timer. Very clear delineation of flow, steps, tasks, etc.
To me it seems that there is too much in it but i can't talk myself into wittling any of it out.
I tend to agree. My first impression is: very, very busy. It comes back to purpose and audience:
What's the purpose of the chart - ie, why have it?
Audience - who's the main audience for it?
Which then dictates what you do.
If it's 'just for the auditor' it'll probably work just fine. But not very useful.
I am new at this and everyone here will say it is greeeeeaaaaat as long as they don't have to do it.
Don't understand what you mean. But if you are saying 'it's great, but don't ask me to actually USE this, then you've got a usability problem. Which you need to address. No matter how 'great' it is, if it ain't useful or usable, then it won't be used. Which means it's pointless.
I suggest: get really clear on what the purpose (function) of the map is.
I couldh help more if I knew purpose & audience.
But my take on it is that it's very, very busy.
Do the 6
different and
very bright colours
really add anything (see what I mean)? If so, what? Why have different borders (eg, why is purchasing dotted lines & the others not?). It's confusing.
DO reduce a lot the size of the key/legend, as it conflicts with, and confuses, the actual process flow. Doesn't need to be so huge. I'd make it 1/4 the size it is now, and remove the thick eye-grabbing black border (replace with fine grey, say) and move it. Try it across the bottom, say, not in its current oh so dominant and eye-taking position.
Reduce border size of all shapes - they make it hard-impossible to read the text.
Finally - pleese, a bit of
