Product Realization....what does it mean

Per the ISO standard "Product realization is the term used to describe the work that the organization goes through to develop, manufacture, and deliver the finished goods or services."

It is the process of getting from the product concept to the finished product.

Does anyone know where this quoted definition came from?

Ddunn stated that ISO defined product realization; I wanted to know where that definition he listed actually came from. An earlier version of 9001 perhaps?

I know what it means to me, but I cannot find an "official" definition anywhere.

It should be noted that this term, product realization, will not be a section heading for ISO 9001:2015. The new name is Operation.

This pretty much clears the confusion. Operations is a much more widely used term in real-life. But it should be noted that there are also other terms that the BPM community uses that could create confusion such as "end-to-end Order Fulfillment". Although it is arguable, if this term can be used to include the design of new products that normally occurs asynchronously in a non-operational development (i.e. R&D) process. Or if this term refers only to the "administrateive order processes" part of the whole realization process. The language is often a problem because companies develop their own meaning of buzz word, specially in companies that use English as business language residing inside non-English speaking countries with non-native English-speaking employees.
