I have recently taken the position as Quality Manager for a Nutritional Company with above average product returns. The returns range from incorrect lot codes and exp dates to label imperfections. I am debating on whether to implement a Quality Line Sheet or Specification Sheet? Most of this information is on the MBR but for some reason it's not being followed or understood. Does anyone have a suggestion or are currently using something similar that works?? I would greatly appreciate any help!
Hi, initially i see 2 potential major non-conformances - incorrect lot numbers and expirey dates must be your main priority.
with the lot codes you need to introduce a robust traceability process - as you don't state if your lot code is added pre or post labelling its difficult to give advice, personally i'd make the lot code printing post packing - the same would go for expirey dating.
label printing defects are either a production process fault which would benefit from auditing then proces flowing to identify the ptoblem area or a supplier fault which they should address.
i would reccomend that following an audit a full
8D investigation with either a 5 why or ishikawa analysis to determine the root cause
