A point of clarification: when looking in "threaded" view, your response was to Dirk's post. In other words, you were looking at his post and hit the "reply" button, even though you weren't responding directly to his post. Many people here respond directly to posts without quoting them, so the absence of direct quotes isn't a good indicator. It's best to reply to the original post if your response is of a general nature, so as to avoid this type of confusion, especially in long threads.
