Q1 Revoked. How does this affect TS 16949?

We have just lost our Q1 status with Ford. I have searched high and low for any information concerning reporting this to our registrar. Does anyone know this process? Any information would be of great help. Thanks!!!

Losing your Q1 is certainly an undesirable situation. Q1 is a customer specific requirement of Ford which will certainly impact Customer Satisfaction. I would also think there is an issue with 5.4.2 Quality Management System Planning. I don't think there is a specific TS16949 requirement for you to inform the registrar. However you should check your contract with your registrar. There is (in all I have reviewed) a requirement to notify the registrar of any significant changes to the QMS or Business structure. IMHO, this would certainly qualify as a significant change. My advice would be to review your contract and ask your registrar if you are still unclear. Don't forget, your registrar works for you and it would be a little unfair to announce at the next surveillance "Oh, by the way, we lost our Q1".

Well, I guess we are going to fight it. We ship to two different Ford facilities. One of them, we have "0" PPM's for the last twelve months at least. It's the second facility that nit picks every little detail and is threatening to remove our status. By the way, it's the same part!!! :mad:

I feel for you. We supply the exact same part (actually 4 "exact same") to two different sites of a Tier 1. They have different assembly processes and our part interacts differently in each one (one highly automated - the other fairly manual). They don't talk to each other very well and it gets a little hairy when one wants to change something on the part to help their process. We normally have involve the Corporate SQE to help resolve issues which puts one plant or the other at odds with us :frust: .
