Help!

I got suckered in to doing a QS 9000 Audit (and other than self education) know very little about it. I have worked with the ISO Standard for several years. I was looking for some checklist to review on the internet and found a Third Addition Assessment checklist. Would this be the most recent revision?

Doh! That's scary. It's pretty tough to do an effective audit of a standard you aren't familiar with.

But to answer your question, the 3rd edition released in 1998 is the latest (and final) edition of QS-9000. You may have to review the checklist to see if there are questions about PPAP that may have changed due to a later revision of the PPAP manual though.

Here is a question. Regarding your lack of training and/or experiance with QS how did you get sucked in? Apparently who ever sucked you in did not know about your lack of experience or does not care about how effective your audit will be. What ever the case, until you get some experience I would look for a way to get sucked back out again. Sounds like you should be observing not performing the acual audit.

Of course this is IMHO.

There will be a RAB Certified Auditor experienced in QS, however, they dont want to be the lead on this one. It is one of the situations of a volunteer audit for which a company is having us conduct there internal audit. I have studied the QS (3rd addition) for awhile, but I have just not received the formal training. Formal Training is on ISO 9001:2000. They appear to be alot alike, just adding the Big 3 requirements so I have been concentrating on those.

If there is another auditor with QS-9000 experience on the team, you'll at least have a resource to go to if you have questions. Kind of like a technical expert, only better.

I wonder why they don't want to lead the audit. Don't they want to write the audit report?

Actually, that is about right. Extremely busy right now. I guess It will be a good practical learning experience for me. I am also being told it will qualify for my audit experience with RAB.

I recently attached a zip file with some audit sheets that Valerie donated to a post in a thread. The attachment name (I think) is "Valerie QS Audit Docs.zip"

I don't remember which thread off hand.
