QS & ISO 9000:2000

Can any one lead me to a detailed comparison of QS-9000 and ISO9000:2000? I'm aware of several detailed comparisons of ISO 9000:1994 & ISO 9000:2000; and TS-16949 & QS-9000 but I haven't been able to find any specific advice concerning what a QS registered company would need to do to comply with ISO 9000:2000. It seems to me that most, if not all, of ISO 9000:2000 requirements should be satisfied by a QS registered company. Your comments will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Last I've read on this the jury is still out on what "Transition changes" will be required in Qs due to the upgrade of 9001:1994 and 9000-2000.

That's probably why the info you are looking for is scarce to say the least.

I would think the alignment of requirements is closer now that it has been in the past.

Thanks Jim, I agree!
The approach we are going to take is to deal with ISO 14001 first (which will move us a little closer to ISO 9001:2000 due to the similar format) and see what the B3 decide about the future of QS/TS/ISO.

From what our registrar told us they don't expect QS9000 to be revised again. Rather the TS will be revised and transitioned to with QS being dropped. At least - that is what the instructor told us in the transition class, which is still only rumor.

Qs / Iso 9001/ Iso 14001

G'day all,
just a quick request. I'm curently working on aligning the current company QS9000 procedures to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Is there a file/document on the Cayman site that shows all the common elements between the three so I can cross reference what I have done so far?

Many Thanks
;)

There is a matrix sheet in the back of 9001:2000 comparing 14001 and 9001.

As far as Qs cross references - I don't rember if it would be in the free files directory.. there are however many files in the Preimum set that may help you out.

Regards
Jim

I'll take a look tonight, but I don't think we have a 'current' cross reference of the 1998 version of QS and the year 2000 revision of ISO 9001.

Naw - I don't see a QS-9000:1998 vs. ISO 9001:2000 cross reference matrix anywhere. I guess since ISO 9001:2000 is so new and QS-9000 is sorta old had for the majority out there. There is a lot of TS 16949 vs. QS-9000 stuff in the 'Members' area.

I'm probably missing something, but can someone tell me if anyone has posted a comparison of ISO 9001:2000 to QS-9000? Or if I have one here somewhere that I have missed.

I'm looking for a matrix or synopsis.

yes - I know QS-9000 clearly shows the difference - what is ISO9001:1994 and what is QS - but this is for 'top management' whom we all know can't read complex text....

Try the attached. Dont know if its what you are looking for but it is something I created for my own use. It lumps the QS9000 bits with the relevant ISO9001:2000 bits so that when TS16949 comes along (for us) I can simply switch the relevant bits.
