I am a newbie to the Quality Field, can someone please give a brief explanation of what QS 9000 is and the difference between QS 9000 and ISO 9000 requirements?

I'm going to suggest you do some reading first to bring yourself to the point where you understand what ISO 9001 is. There are a lot of areas fo go on this site alone. If you look around there is even a matrix or two which quite well define the basic relationships. Many, however, are alignments of QS-9000 and ISO 9001:1994.

The bottom line is they are both basic (minimum) 'requirements' for a quality system.

ISO-9000 = Quality System Standards (U.N.)
QS-9000 = ISO-9000 + Automotive Requirements

Very general, but applicable.
