Quality Circles - What kind of procedure do I need and does anyone have one to share?

Hi ,

We are establishing quality circles team in our organization and I need to develop for them a documented procedures to support the function of the teams related to the quality circles project. I am thinking what kind of procedures i need to develop and if any one get any samples.

I would suggest you use this as a basis for the procedure you write for your organization. The parts that don't fit can be discarded and you can of course add anything particular to your company.

Dave: Good lead to a topic I thought had gone the way of other "flavors of the month."

There was a time back in the 80's when I was on a Board of Directors (as an outside Director) which declared itself a "Quality Circle" and elected (selected?) me as the Quality Circle Chair. After I had the post for a month, I learned the only reason I was elected Chair was because I was the Parliamentarian for Stockholder meetings and the others figured I could run a meeting of the Circle! No one of the other "suits" gave a thought to how much or little I knew about Quality:lmao:

Says a lot about Executive Commitment, huh?

QC Circle

You can find a lot of information on JUSE regarding Quality Circle. We Hindalco Industries Limited are having participation in QC Circle activities. Recently (21 st January 2005) I led a QC Circle team and secured a THIRD Place in GUJARAT State level. Now this same QC Circle is going for a bigger competition to be held at Regional Level . Give me All the Best and prey for it. I am going on 17th Feb. 2005 for this competition.

What are QC Circles?
A QC Circle is a small group consisting of first-line employees who continually control and improve the quality of their network, products and services.
These small groups:
Operate autonomously,
Utilize quality control concepts and techniques and other improvement tools Tap members' creativity, and Promote self- and mutual-development.


QC Circle activities aim to:
Develop members' capabilities and achieve self-actualization,Make the workplace more pleasant, vital and satisfying, Improve customer satisfaction, and Contribute to society.


Executives and managers ensure that QC Circle activities contribute to improving the health of the enterprise by:
Treating QC Circle activities as an important part of employee development and workplace vitalization, Personally practicing company-wide improvement activities such as TQM, and Providing guidance and support for total participation while respecting the humanity of all employees.
