For some people QFD just refer to "House Of Quality" (HOQ), but of course it can in academic terms include other more complex issuses.
The problem in general with the QDF's approaches that I have seen so far, is that they lack a broader integrated perspective, eventhough you think that you "translate" a customer approach into a productive/engineering thing, then it is still from and within the views of engineering.
A really useful and modern QDF shall integrate both marketing language with production and sourcing issues, but also strategic to the practical levels.
