Impressive documents. Someone spent a lot of time on those!

Now, I'm not as proficient reviewing quality manuals as some othere here.

It appears that you have covered most of the relevant sections. However, it seems to be written quite generic. Granted, the quality manual is to be strategic and high level, but maybe some of the sections need to be written for you; they should become your own.

I might take the quality manual and the procedures and begin to make some of it your own by taking out overly generic language and placing language that your organization can relate to.

NOTE: You may already have that, and took a lot of it out to make your posting a bit more anonymous.:)

Your quality manual seems to be written to give answers to the standards intead of showing what you company really do. This is a common mistake that tends to suboptmize the quality system and people tend not to understand what the quality records mean.

Also, i think you´re missing some things on the process aproach. Your process descriptions (although you call the second document procedures, they´re are in general more like processes) are imcomplete. Where, for example, are process owners, KPIs, measurements poits for factual decision-making, and processes correlations?

Brad is being a diplomat! I have to admit, that this is too generic and could have been written for a thousand companies (indeed has) and can be bought for $500 as a 'system on a disc' approach.

We can offer advice here - mine is simple, don't do one like this - but the real answer is going to come from your own management. What value do they see in this? Can they speak to the use, terminology etc.? If they don't feel comfortable, then you'll have a problem with it for a long time..........

I am not normally so blunt so please excuse me on this occasion - what is the point of repeating the words of the standard in your quality manual? If that is all you are going to do with it just have a 1 pager which has the minimum requirements stated in 4.2.2 and add a line that you will do what the standard requires.

I think that the manual should act as an interface between the standard and your company. It should be individual to you and help the reader to understand your interpretation of the standard - what each clause means to you so they can start to understand how you will go about your work. As Andy stated, this could be anybodies manual - we don't even know what the company does.

I understand where you are going....

A few years ago, Marc changed my mind...
One of the main objectives of Quality manual is to get certified....

I take your point Michelle but if it is only to get certification, go for the 1 pager. That way, it can't be wrong. By the way, I never use a 1 pager myself. I have produced 1 as a model to show people but I don't see me ever using 1 in a real situation.
