Query about TS 16949 and a Multi-Disciplinary Approach

TS 16949 talks about multidisciplinary approach in plant , facility planning as well as product design / development planning. Would be great is someone could clarify as to what is the general expected practice of this approach.

The involvement of experts from various functions in the decision making process so that concerns and ideas of all these experts are jointly taken and addressed.
Ex.: Design process involves manufacturability (production) , serviceability (service and repair), availability of constituent components / parts (purchase) .. etc.
Likewise this must be the approach in other fields as well, such that when the plan is realized into action, there are no surprises and unknown / unseen elements do not crop up to the best of the teams ability.

Thanks. Got the idea. From audit point of view, how this gets verified? Is any objective evidence needed like any minutes or decision flow etc indicating involvement of all experts?

I've never seen an issue made of it during an audit. As long as you can show that people from different areas were involved in the revelant areas you should be fine. Things like names on a control plan for process design, meeting minutes involving Quality and Purchasing for APQP, etc. Note that one person might wear many hats, so an individual that handles Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing Planning could be multi-disciplinary all by themselves.
