Is there a quick way to check spline pitch runout for machine operators? We currently are placing a gage pin in the pitch dia. and picking up in 4-6 places around the circumference with an indicator. It is a slow and inaccurate method. thx.

The 3 spline rings we have are go and no-go. The OD of the rings are concentric to the test within .0002, plus the max material based on pitch--usually not much on a spline. If your tolerance allows this type of 'error' you may be able to just check the ring gauge diameter while it's on the part.
All this makes the assumption you have spline gauges and they can be used in this fashion.
