R&D (Research & Development) Department - Off-site brain trust

Just want to see what other's are doing for and R&D dept. We have an off-site brain trust that works for a couple different divsions. Within our division we have a group that works with the brain trust ideas to make them feasible. We will include the divisional group but are considering the off-site group as we would a university research center we are associated with. Any comments?
