Woohoo, runaway train! :truce:

I didn't mean to start all this. The bloke i talked to was probably area/team manager or so, he's my auditors boss, not a secretary. I didn't make much out of it since he agreed that it might be better to get these expiry dates on them, but that this takes a major effort to change worldwide, as Randy stated. I you look into the texts in the guidance doc it still doesn't say you must have an expiry date. I do agree that it gives you the idea that it makes sense to have one on a certificate.

And to close this all of, I'm very happy with BSi as our certifier, they are thinking with us on a strategic level and aim at raising our quality standard with us.

Auditor's Boss

Hello All:

The auditor's boss didn't know what ISO Guide 62 was let alone the contents?

Is that a correct statement?

Our auditor's boss's boss didn't know what the second edition of TS 16949 rules were. Our registrar is trying to impose an IAF guidance to an IATF certification. Our customers are calling us about the status of our TS certificate. Our last audit was in September and our CAR's were submited in November. We still haven't received any response from our registrar.

When I talk to the auditor's boss's boss, I get the feeling they are only sales people. They don't know the specifics.

Our TS re-certification audit starts Monday. We have no agenda yet.

We have no response on our stage 1 document review which should be completed prior to the stage 2 audit which starts Monday. I asked the IAOB and VDA if a stage 1 audit is required for a TS 16949 re-certification. I have been waiting over a week for the answer.

Our registrar didn't inform us that for TS, a re-certification audit is required 2 years 9 months to 3 years from the original audit date. We missed the date and then they required us to go through the stage 1 audit. Who is responsible to know and inforce the registration rules? Us or the registrar?

Ahhh, the health of the world of conformity assessment. And the final thing that I really enjoy about QMS certifications is that our cusotmers still audit us on site. Our certs don't stop many customers from auditing us on site... asking the same questions.

Rant over.

Regards,

Dirk

Dirk, concerning the question about the "re-certification window", check question # 15 at the FAQ document. I understand your frustration. Your registrar should be "partnering" more closely with you.
The "health of the conformity assessment" sector is eroding. Have you had a chance to read the article from Mr. Randy Dougherty, ANAB's Director, that I posted the other day? I believe that a talent drain is happening.
You, as customer of your registrar, have all the right in the World to demand better service. On the larger picture, however, the conformity assessment industry will only shape up if the users of certificates "wise up".

Dirk, it does sound like you have had more than your share.

I don't know who your Registrar is, but there are good ones out there. The purpose for this reply is changing registrars requres a recert. It sounds like you are doing your recert at this time, so if you want to change, now would be the time. Later, you would have to recert again. Good luck, however you sort this out.
