Yes, excellent advice all around. Thank you.

I should have explained that we do have an internal procedure (but not a schedule, as you point out) as well as a database to capture audit scope, audit results, action taken to address findings, and evaluation of action effectiveness.

I agree that this rev of 9001 is much different than 1994, which was probably why I was so disappointed that our first consultant was trying to sell us his version of a quality system, vs. helping us to assess our current compliance and gaps. But that is all water under the bridge and we are moving on from there.

We are interviewing our second potential registrar this coming week, and will be in a better position to ask more informed questions, thanks to this forum.

That's not a consultant but a salesperson and gives all us real consultants a bad name, dammit. :mad: Glad you know the difference.

That's good.
But again, is it a 'happening thing'? You can have a procedure and a database... but are these actually in use? Used? Or are they sitting on the shelf to be used when... when what?
If in use, where's the evidence that demonstrates that?

We are just in the gap assessment, documentation, review and approval phase now. Implementation is part of the project plan as well. Didn't take any of the feedback as harping. I welcome and value your perspective.

Sorry, Andy. Yes, of course there's an aspect of selling in consulting. Andno, I certainly didn't mean to cast aspersions on the role of salesperson either, which is an essential one.

BUT an honest salesperson will not seek to say that their solution is the only possible one (unless that's really true) and nor will an honest consultant. Plus a consultant should be well aware of which role is which, and clear about what hat they're wearing at any particular time.
