Hi!

We just had (last week) our second surveillence audit to TS. All went relatively well.
Our current scope includes: Design, stamping, tube bending, welding, e-coating and powder coating of automotive seat frames.
We will soon be adding milling.
Do I / should I call my registrar with the addition to the scope? Or do we address it during the next surveillence audit?

Thanks!

Teri

Yes, discuss with your registrar.
Adding a new process, IMO, is the same as the initial application for TS2. Also you will not have the necessary performance data so you may receive only a letter of conformance for the first year. And if you are adding people be prepared for increased audit days.

Sam's right on the money here (as usual). I might want to add that you might also do an assessment to see how adding a new process affects your current processes. I would also recommend Management Review to address the changes in accordance with 5.4.2 b)
