not sure i have the complete picture, but if the warehouse organization is treated by your company as a subcontractor, how are your other subs controlled (audit, contract, etc)? In this case doubt that scope inclusion is needed.

If not a sub, then part of your company? Then yes perhaps scope inclusion is called for.

In any case, most registrars are helpful with questions and will not penalize you for inquiring in order to clear up a situation. Just be aware of registrars actually consulting vs. answering a scope question.

That is a good slant! I was considering that the warehouse was just part of the business (and it may be). But if the warehouse is a different business entity and they operate as a supplier, rather than part of the company, the rules would be different.

Thank you for your comments. I do, in fact, have a good relationship with our auditor and we discuss "what others have done" to keep away from consulting.

I like the idea of supplier, will kick that around with our Operations Manager.

Remember that, if you treat the warehouse as a supplier, you will then be required to "develop" the supplier, including requiring them to be ISO 9001 certified....

We are TS 16969 certified in the U.S. and have recently added a remote warehouse and shipping site in Europe.

We have used Skype Business to audit more office oriented processes like purchasing, but what do you think a 3rd party auditor would think of us performing and internal audit of a warehouse and shipping facility over Skype?

I don't know. Do you really have to sit your suspect in a dark room and shine a bright light in his eyes while you interrogate him? . I think if done thoroughly it should be ok.

I'm concerned because we have these long Shipping and Packaging Instructions the clerks use and our auditors normally go over them pretty thoroughly with what's on the boxes. The Shipping lady said he has a laptop with built in camera and sound and he carries it around to show them items he has questions on.....so I guess we could do it that way. Maybe I'm too old for these modern methods.
