Dear All,

I have been working as a MR in a reputed automotive industries which is certified TS 16949 . There was a controversy between me & my consultant pertaining to revision of document& records

that is can we put for document Internal audit plan no like

REF-AI/IAP/01-Here AI denotes my company name:

REV-00,DT-1.01.10 ( Is this correct)
What does '01' denote in your IA Plan No. 'AI/IAP/01' ? However, the number increment should follow the same trend as defined in your Doc. Control procedure.

Both are correct. What your procedure says?

Umang has shown you right direction. Here is an example of how we handle revisions:

Document Ref: WI/21-19, version 4.6, dated 21.05.2010
WI- Work Instruction
21 denotes department Ref. No.
19 denotes nineteenth work instruction of this deptt.
Version 4.6 means it's the 6th revision since the doc. was created. First issue no. was 4.0 and subsequently the document has undergone 6 minor revisions.

Here's what we have defined in our Doc. Control procedure:

6.2 The document codification system is explained in Section VII of IMS Manual. Each controlled document bears the following identification :-

a) Title
b) Document No.
c) Revision Date
d) Revision No.
e) Approving Authority

6.3 Every controlled document has a numeric version number with one decimal. Initial Version No. is kept as 4.0 and the decimal point is updated with each revision. After every 10 minor revisions, the first digit is incremented.

6.4 However, in case of major amendment, the first digit of version no. is incremented by one and the next digit remains zero.
There's nothing wrong or right per se. You need to follow what you have documented that you would do or change the procedure to suit your needs.

O1 is the issue no
Is it clear ?
pls clarify whether I put Like Ref : or Form NO;
Form No. is normally used for 'Record' formats but it doesn't make any difference how you name it.

Looks like you have a nice simple method. Is this what your documented procedure says you do? Do your own internal audits tell you the procedure is being implemented this way?

What is the consultant saying you should do?
