Risk Approach doesn't address External Issues (Auditor's Comment)

Just my thoughts and interpretations on the matter of External Risk analysis. Chances are, if your company has has been in business for a while, your top management is well aware of the external issues that could impact your company.

There are so many risks and opportunities that originate outside your walls. For example, if the market shows your raw material costs may increase significantly (possibly due to new tariffs), I,m sure someone in your company is prepping for this. Higher cost could be higher risk. This is being done, its all in how you document it. The thing to be careful with is that this can easily go to broad. I would only consider things that could impact my QMS.
