A partner is suggesting adding something along the lines of 'if a standard requires a sample size, that sample size can be used as the minimum rather than sample size listed in our risk based sample size requirement table (which uses the risk category for the control being verified to determine minimum sample size).
I get there are some type tests where a reduced sample size is appropriate, but are there standards where it calls out sample size which aren't type tests. I'm somewhat familiar with IEC 60601 items and getting UL/Intertek certifications which may only require certain sample sizes, but aren't those seem more like type tests?
We already have a provision for type tests. Am I missing something here, this seems like basically saying if a standard calls out a sample size you can forgo our risk based sample size requirements. I don't think I've ever seen this before so it feels like I'm missing something if this is really an appropriate approach.
