Subject: ROI net--A new discussion group invites you

------
Dear Listers:

I have started a new discussion group, ROInet to explore, develop, and promote practical ROI approaches. The sole purpose of this list is to provide a forum for interested individuals to discuss ROI related issues, such as theoretical foundation, conceptual framework, methodologies, and their applications and practices in HRD, TQM/Six Sigma, OD, training, WBT/CBT, Performance Management, Knowledge Management, and more. This idea was triggered by my recent experience on searching a group on this topic. My search was not fruitful although there was one ROI discussion group but hey, they want your credit card number before you enter the discussion session.

Return on investment (ROI) for HRD has been a hot topic in many human/organization/technology behavior related field for about a decade. My impression is, the ROI campaign of last decade only partially solved the why issue. The issue of how is still perplexing and puzzling most of HRD practitioners and researchers. In today' literature and practices, one can hardly find any rigorous and robust ROI analysis. Many authors/experts complain the scarcity of sound ROI studies. I am convinced there are fundamental drawbacks within current mainstream ROI methodology, which is obviously lack of solid theoretical framework. Hopefully, through this ROInet discussion group, we can collect our wisdom and give ROI study a boost together.

To subscribe to the discussion group, please send an email to [email protected]. You will be asked to reply to a confirmation email message after that. ROInet is a moderated list meaning that we filter out junk posts, off-topic posts or rude comments. Beyond that very little control is exerted. To send a message to everyone on the list, send a message to [email protected]. There are already over 160 members in the group in the first 4 days. To view the interesting discussions posted by the ROInetters, please go to www.egroups.com/group/roinet

Please direct any comments or questions about the group to the group moderator at:
