Heard the word romance on TV last night which prompted my attempt at defining what that really meant without having to get up and getting the dictionary.

I'm sure mine wouldn't match theirs anyway.

romance - ro-mance, v,
    1. game played between a man & woman where:
      (a) the rules for behavior (which are totally foreign to the man) are created by the woman,
      (b) the men are never told the rules,
      (c) the rules vary from woman to woman,
      (d) the rules can change at any time, and
      (e) the degree of success at playing the game is left totally to the disgression of the woman;
successful gameplay resulting in either immediate or delayed sensual and/or REDACTED favours (the degree and timing left solely to the woman).
Well, that was my shot at the definition. Would anyone else like to take a stab at it?

I'm probably the wrong person to give an input but I can't help myself.

My guess would be that as long as it costs a lot of money, doesn't have anything to do with talking about a power rating (watts, rpms, hp, etc.), doesn't have anything to do with a computer or an illuminated screen, requires some type of a Hallmark Card and makes the guy feel either very uncomfortable or stupid.

Man:
“Woman!! Get me a beer the game is about to start”
“What do you mean you didn’t want this for your birthday, this electric tool cost me $800.00 and it comes with a warranty.”
“Come on honey it will be electrifying, it’s “Wild Kingdom” you use to not have a problem leaving the T.V. on when we where dating??”
Food
More Food
Food that the women cooks
And…. “She looked good last night, must have been the beer goggles”

Woman:
Rose shaded glasses

See has something to do with an illuminated screen.

“What do you mean you didn’t want this for your birthday, this electric tool cost me $800.00 and it comes with a warranty.”
Has to do with a power rating.

“Come on honey it will be electrifying, it’s “Wild Kingdom” you use to not have a problem leaving the T.V. on when we where dating??”
See has something to do with an illuminated screen.

Food & More Food
Are you telling me that you don't like to go out to eat? Or is there not enough $$ spent?

Food that the women cooks
See, to inexpensive - doesn't cost enough!

"She looked good last night, must have been the beer goggles”
It's not an expensive wine - just beer. Once again doesn't cost enough! :biglaugh:

Okay, okay...I'll be the party pooper in the group. :bigwave:

Romance is that which is shared by two (granted in some cultures, more than two) people where Person A puts the needs/wants/desires of Person B before his/her own. Thus proving that Isaac Newton was a romantic at heart. ;)

Or is that love?

Hmmm....maybe your definitions of Romance are not that far off-base.

Well, to include some of Randy's definitions, how about a text message to your special somebody during their External Audit? Includes an illuminated screen, a high-tech gadget and $$ (since I pay extra for every text message I send).

True it includes all of Stew’s “romance necessities”, but the message would still have to be viewed with Rose Shaded Glasses. There is nothing romantic about External Audits!! :vfunny: :biglaugh:

Then you're not trying hard enough, girl! :D Haven't you heard that adage, "Anything to avoid that NCR?" Oooh...wait...this isn't the ethics thread, is it?

How about a rose-coloured screen on the phone? Or just a pink phone? Granted, it would take a man very confident in his masculinity to carry around a pink phone. "It's my wife's/sister's/mother's! Honest!"

As I remember it

Romance hmmmmm...When you're behind closed doors, whispering sweet somethings in the plural? ;)

Like your definition RCB. Romance after marriage and kids is trying to get back to the point at where you started. Is it possible????
