Who can help me to answer the following question? For our customer we need to measure the runout of a shaft with screw thread at the opposite end of the shaft. As a reference the pitch diameter of the screw thread should be used. In order to do so we need to screw the part in a fixture with a tapper female screw thread until tight.
Is this a correct method to measure? Isn’t it the same (or better) to use the outer diameter of the screw thread and clamp the part in a collet?
