I read somewhere recently that Hollywood are seriously considering tackling the Asimov's Foundation series. That should prove challenging.

You've got that right... LMAO I always read a lot, but I have recently (partly thanks to the suggestions in this thread) been able to get my hands on a lot of new stuff.

Hollywood going for the Foundation? Yes, that should prove interesting. I see a risk, though: The Foundation series contains more plot than "hi tech". They may very well drown the story in too many special effects... Let's hope not.

I just thought about something. If you want to read a really good Earth invasion plot you should try Harry Turtledoves World War series (Yes - I recently read that too ) . He really proves that alternate reality belongs under the SciFi flag.

I just wanted to mention a book I just finished last night and make a recommendation to anyone who likes stories of alien encounters, sci-fi war and such... The book I finished last night is titled "The Dark Wing" by Walter H. Hunt... I plan to go out tonight and get the sequel to that book titled "The Dark Path" (which was published this past February). All-in-all, a decent storyline and an enjoyable read. Enjoy,

Eon is book 1 in a trilogy. Books 2 & 3 in order are: Eternity and Legacy.

Hi Claes,

have you tried any of the Jasper Fforde's books, The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book or The Well of Lost Plots?

They're about an alternate universe in which books can be "entered" and visited, like a tourist would. In the first book, some nefarious crook kidnaps Jane Eyre and the literary police have to go rescue her. In the second book, the main character, Tuesday Next, is being hunted and she turns to a library where there are mapped out routes from book to book, and she can hide.

The series is very creative, and wonderful fun for book hounds.

Never got interested

Time for an update? I have sifted through many of the suggestions in this thread by now, so I was wondering: Any news on the Sci Fi front?

Dear Claes:

Although I have been interested in both science and fiction, I have never found myself getting interested in SciFi.

The closest I have come to enjoying SciFi is watching Around the World in 80 days and 20,000 Leagues under the Sea (several times, I never seen to get tired of these). May be the Space race will give us something to look forward to. Have a nice weekend.

If you like dragons, the Anne McCafferty (sp?) books (Dragonsinger, etc.) are quite interesting. They are probably more fantasy than sci-fi.

The list of authors brings back a lot of great memories. Anyone remember Andre Norton?
