Seeking: ISO registered training/corrections companies

A potential client is looking for another company(s) with similar services to discuss ISO 9001 registration. They are interested in hearing about pros and cons, unique difficulties, etc.

Overall, their main services are job training, education, and corrections. They manage Job Corps and correctional facilities across the USA.

If anyone works for (or has contact information for) any similar companies that are ISO 9001 certified, please let me know!

I'm curious. What does the prospective client cite as its primary motivation for "potentially" seeking ISO9k2k registration and thus asking for "benchmarks"?

(i.e. which came first -

• prospect poses question?
  or
• registrar says, "You ought to register." client replies, "Who else is registered? What benefit versus cost in time, money, etc. did they derive?")

Alternately, is one of prospective client's customers requiring registration by prospective client before engaging them?

There is a poem about the "road less traveled" - taking it "made all the difference."

Mark, nobody has responded outside of this thread, but I did find an organization in Canada that is ISO 9001 certified - The Justice Institute of BC. I have sent their contact information, so hopefully they will be able to answer their questions.

Wes, they say that their motivation is help with customer satisfaction/market share. They are also interested in expanding into other countries, including Europe. As far as I know, they weren't contacted by a registrar.

Many of you will recall that in times past, "conspiracy nuts" said ISO was a way of shutting U.S. companies out of the European market. Sounds like a smart organization is hoping the ISO banner will lend some added credibility to their marketing effort. Fair enough. I hope it works. The field they are in (for profit management of correctional [read "prison"] facilities) has a lot more to do with working [selling to] a "political" system than most, so every added piece of credibility should help.
