Hello Everyone in the CoVe!!!

Eventhough this is not a ISO 9000 directly related matter, may be some of you can help me out. I am looking for information on software metrics for a course I have to develop. If anyone has any idea, it will be very helpfull. I haven`t been checking the site lately, mainly because the date for certification was pospone (July 2004) and I received a lot of different (not quality related) tasks.

Hope everything is good for all....

What do you mean by "software metrics"? Is this course on software development?

Software metrics are tough to settle on..it all depends on the programming languages, the discipline of your developers and the tools you use to gather them. Some examples are lines of code, function point analyisis, reported bugs, fixed bugs, % of reuse....I'm sure an internet search will find many other examples.

A big topic - not sure what type of course you are planning, but it may take a while to get prepared for it. Good luck!
Cheers!

I agree with Daryl ... what you measure depends on what you are doing and what improvements you want to achieve. There may be some useful information in these earlier threads:

Also, the old ISO 9000-3 on applying ISO 9001 to software development is in the final stages of revision, and will be reissued soon as
ISO/IEC 90003 "Software engineering -- Guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2000 to computer software".
Check with your national standards organization for information, or check the ISO or IEC web sites.
