Hello

During the production the product is 100% visual checked by the operator and if he find a piece with a aesthetic defect he scrap it. No sorted required, no decrease line speed and no added manpower required.

in FMEA AIAG VDA the severity rank says:

Liv. 3 "A portion of the production run may have to be reworked in-station before it is processed" → the word "reworked" means also "scarp"?

No. Rework means that some action is taken to redo a part of the process to bring the part up into conformance. The part is then accepted by re-inspection and shipped. Scrap means to throw away the part - it isn’t used at all. Scrap is a straight forward cost. It is not shippable product. Scrap reduces your production output and probably requires an additional part to be made to fulfill your order quantity.

Thanks for your asnwer, so what is the right rank in my case?

I don't have a copy of the current AIAG/VDA severity table, so I'm not certain that this is the correct table. If this is correct, it seems pretty apparent that your scenario is a 6 severity.

When your operator finds an aesthetic "defect", do you mean that the product is scrapped? Definitely no further work is done to rectify it, it goes to "Destination Dumpster"? Or are these products taken somewhere else to see if they can be made to become aesthetically OK by working on them?
