Hi
We are at the start of the process of implementing an integrated management system (ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001) in our property repairs and maintenance company, and wondered if anyone would be interested in chatting to us about potential pitfalls etc? We are heading down to York for a course in Implementing OHSAS 18001 at the beginning of May and would be happy to tag a site visit on at the same time. So ideally someone in the York area, who's happy to share?
Thanks
Jackie and James

seeing no one has responded I'll give it a go.

The pitfalls are fewb the important things are to use common processess across the systems, eg one management review process, one name for corrective actions and nonconformances eg "fix ups" and "unwanted events" etc. If you do you'll get maximum benefits from it.

Environmental aspects and impacts sounds confusing and difficult but at the trianing you'll get some examples to make it easy. if not, search ther cove here, there is bound to be something that will work for you.

Over time you will notice that you'll have some 'significient' environmental risks no matter how few you may in fact have, perhaps none. CB auditors aways want and always classify something as 'significent'.

Over time you will notice that CB auditors slowly trun the screws on you. You get away with a lot at first but the more you address issues they find the more they drill down and still find issues. Read the threads here on CB auditors for help to deal with this issue.

You should find implemention it easier if you wrap quality, safety and enviro together when you write documents and forms. Eg make references to QSE or "S&E Weekly Factory Inspection" form

sorry gotta go.

Agreed, but I would go further. Define your processes (ie how you run the business) and only then look at what any standard requires you to do. If you are operating well just now, you may need to "tweak" things here and there, but you will get most benefit from defining how you want things to work for the benefit of the business rather than (just) to comply with a standard.
