Hello Group,

I just joined the 'Cove' and hope that someone will comment on my Special Processes Audit. (I hope this is the correct forum to post this in. If not please let me know)

My audits are broken into 2 major sections. The Processor Audit (attached) and the Specification Audit (I'm still working on) The specification audit will just take the requirements from a technical spec and put them in and audit format.

The main purpose of the Special Processes audit is to gather an understanding of the technical capabilities of the supplier. Like the first question in the audit, do you have a copy of the specification I have called out on my drawing? I don't think anyone will fall over from hearing this but I have seen many vendors producing and certifying to a spec that they don't have.

We are also not requiring certification/registration to ISO9000:2000 or AS9100 or any of the other Quality Management standards. Because of this I have included a few tidbits from those standards.

One issue I am going to have to address is the subjective nature of some questions. Another issue is that the questions may be good but there is no contractural obligation for the supplier to follow. (Good business practices cannot be forced). Comments on this would be appreciated.

I would appreciate any / all input.

By the way, this is not copywrited so I guess I'm sharing it with anyone that has a similar need.

In advance, thank you.

Looks fine to me. Basically it probably could be applied as a general audit as well because most of the questions asked apply across the board.

This appears,IMO, to be more of a general "special Process" checklist. I don't see a defined special process,i.e, heat treating, plating, etc.

Ignore that reply. After re-reading your post I find that I have mis-read it. My apologies.

Special process parameter verification

we have a special process-brazeing, we useing a special brazeing furnace, we only control temperature. normally we according to our experience to setting the temperature. last month, a TS auditor told us we shall verification the parameter of the furnace, if we use DOE approch to verificate the temperature, the cost is very high.

who can give me some good idea to satify TS requirements?

Wangxingde,
Did you receive written a non-conformance for thisssue? If so, what element of the TS2 was cited?
The two elements that directly affect your process are; 7.5.2 qnd 8.2.3.

7.5.2 requires that a process be validated where the resulting output cannot be verified by subsequent monitoring or measurement.
IMO the brazing operation would come under this requirement. How you validate and verify is up to you. It doesn't have to be a DOE, it can be past history or knowledge of the process. As long as you have the method documented.

8.2.3 is the requirement for monitoring and measurement of ALL manufacturing processes.

thank you, sam,
the auditor issued a non-confirmity, the elements of TS2 is 7.5.2. we haven't a documented work instruction, normally, we use our experience according to the old worker's experience.

Do you have a similar work instruction for example?

thank you.

monitoring only manufacturing processes?

Hi Sam
I would be happy if I'll have strong reasons to monitor only manufacturing processes. It's sounds logical. But the registrar auditor ask for more. Monitoring ALL the processes of QMS. Can you give me some more reasons?
Thanks :thanx:
